The Schooner Ernestina Commission met with Captain Harold Burnham at their meeting last week. Harold reported that oak has been ordered from Denmark. After the Napoleonic Wars the Danes planted oaks to provide timber for shipbuilding. Their foresight allows today's shipwrights access to the best resources for wooden ship construction. The wood is being cut to Harold's specifications and when it arrives it will be seasoned before reconstruction begins. Meanwhile Boothbay Harbor will be celebrating Windjammer Days. Stop by the Shipyard and see how impressive Ernestina-Morrissey is up on the railway.
